A bargain flight booking proved too good to be true.
A British couple believed they'd struck gold on a cheap flight to the Caribbean from Birmingham airport. Having packed for their dream holiday, they set off with high hopes of a hot holiday.
However, when the couple tried to check-in at Birmingham International Airport in the UK Midlands, they discovered their American Airlines departure was from an airport much further away than they expected - in Birmingham, Alabama in the US.
According to reports, the advert for the £800 flight tickets didn't provide the unlucky couple with any indication of the fact they were paying for an internal US flight rather than a transatlantic one. And there was no happy ending. Accepting their mistake, the pair could do nothing else but return home and face the prospect of a British winter of storms and floods.
