BP to sell Duckhams and Veedol brands

BP is looking to sell two of its historic lubricants brand names as it continues its business rationalisation.

Duckhams OilThe UK-based company is offering the global rights to its Duckhams and Veedol brands, both of which have been in the marketplace since the invention of the automobile in the early 1900s.

The purchaser is likely to be able to take control of the brands by the end of 2011.  However, the rights are only limited to the brand names themselves, with no access to sales or customer lists, product formulations for the existing lubricants, or supply and operations support from BP.

The sale follows the decision by BP to focus on its Castrol and eponymous BP lubes brands, with its Duckhams and Veedol customers having already been moved across to BP's current lubes products.

Expressions of interest in purchasing the brands can be registered until 12 March 2011.
