Ferrari reaches India and space!

Italian supercar marque Ferrari is now available in India and has even reached beyond Earth!

The supercar producer opened its first dealership in New Delhi - India being the 58th country to sell the brand.  The Grand Opening included a visit from Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa.

The Indian dealership, managed by importers the Shreyans Group, is set to tap into the massive economic and automotive growth currently underway in India and includes a 'personalisation area' where new clients can custom-design their Ferraris before placing an order. The entire range will be available with prices starting from Rs22m ($486,700).

The dealership opening also included and messages from Ferrari F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and and Filipe Massa.  Their live broadcast was beamed from Monte Carlo in France where they were preparing for the Monaco Grand Prix.

However, the broadcast was far less impressive than the personal video conversation earlier in the month between Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo at Ferrari's factory in Maranello and Italian astronaut Paulo Nespolo on board the International Space Station orbiting several thousand miles about the Earth.

The video conference was arranged by NASA and during the conversation Nespolo turned the camera to show Montezemolo a Ferrari Prancing Horse badge which had been placed on a nearby control unit.  Montezemolo also talked in English to one of the American crew members before the end of the videoconference, inviting them all to Maranello.  Nespolo's mission ended on May 23rd but not before the six crew members, joined by six new Shuttle crew, had shared an Italian meal.
