The berlinetta-style car was the first ever new car model to be launched in China, and the fastest road car that Ferrari have built to date. The V12-engined GTO packs 670hp into a bodyshell weighing a fraction under 1500kg, giving a power to weight ration of 2.23kg/hp, acceleration of 3.35sec to 100km/h and a top speed of 335km/h.

Owners of the 599 GTO will be part of a very exclusive club, with only 599 cars being made and will need to be individuals who, according to Ferrari, "seek the maximum expression of high performance driving".  They are also likey to be seeking individuals with substantial bank accounts.

A 599XX prototype has already set a new record as the first ever production-derived sports car to break the seven-minute barrier around the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, with a time of 6min 51.16sec.  The GTO itself has broken the track record for a road car at the Fiorano race circuit with a 1min 24 sec time.
