Great Wall and Total sign co-op agreement

French lube major, Total, is to become the preferred lubes supplier for China's largest SUV producer

Great Wall Motors has entered into a three-year cooperation agreement in which Total Lubrifiants will become its recommended partner for the sale of lubricants. The agreement will take effect in participating countries worldwide and will provide Great Wall Motors with high quality Total Quartz auto lubes, as well as the French company's global marketing expertise. The deal will allow both companies to gain a share in the rapidly-expanding Chinese auto market.

Total Competition will also sponsor Great Wall Motors' entry into the Dakar Rally this year. The Chinese auto giant's Haval SUV Dakar team ranked seventh and twentieth last year and hopes that the new cooperation will make them more competitive in 2012. Total Lubricants China also supports the Great Wall Motors Racing team, which won the Club Cup runner-up of the diesel group in the Taklimakan rally.

Great Wall Motors is China's biggest SUV producer as of 2010 and is one of China's largest privately-owned car companies, as well as its tenth largest producer, manufacturing 435,500 units domestically last year and has recently announced ambitious targets for 2012.
