OATS powers African online tool for lube choice


Engen Ghana is helping its customers choose the best lubricants through an online tool developed in association with OATS.

The tool, for PCs and mobile devices, makes real-time recommendations to customers without them having to consult different manufacturers' literature.

The tool is based on a comprehensive international database of lubricants and automotive manufacturer information provided by UK-based OATS.

It has has drop-down menus and the search parameters including: Sector (commercial, retail, agricultural or off-highway Category (in the event of retail being chosen, the choices would be cars, motorcycles or vans Make and Model.

Once the consumer has selected their options, the tool makes lubricants recommendations which cover the vehicle's engine, transmission, differential and other key applications. It also provides information on oil change intervals.

OATS has a track record in providing lubricants databases to facilitate online data access in the industry. The company recently provided data for the Shell Lubricants app which has transformed digital data for motorists and an app for Prista oil which has allowed the lubes maker to use social media in its marketing.
