Wired ride for line walker

A stunt that amazed even Hollywood stars has become a massive hit on social media network, YouTube.

The stunt involved world 'slack wire' champion, a stretch of closed highway with a tunnel at one end and two Volvo trucks. The aim of the stunt was for wire-walker, Faith Dickey - who holds the world record in the sport of highlining (involving walking on a line as far and high as possible) - to walk between the two trucks as they travelled down the highway at a constant speed of just under 80 kph.

Helped by Hollywood stuntman, Peter Pedrero, Dickey worked with team to set up the wire between the trucks before practicing with the 16-wheeled Volvo FH stationary. Once satisfied that the stunt was achieveable, the trucks set off up the motorway with Dickey standing on top of one of the trailers.

Pressure was added with the knowledge that the line would be cut as soon as the trucks entered the twin tunnels. Dickey also slipped and had to climb back onto the wire during the stunt.

The result?...

According to Henry Alex Rubin, director of the film which has now had more than 5.7m views on YouTube: "She humbled and amazed myself and the entire crew with her courage. This stunt started off as a way to test the precision of Volvo’s massive 16-wheeled trucks and ended up being just as much a testament to guts and courage."
