Professional driver, Mauro Calo has set a new world record - sideways in a Mercedes.

Mercedes drift record

Calo used the Mercedes-Benz Handling Circuit in Weybridge, England, to set the worlds' longest car drift of 2,308m, beating the existing record by nearly 400 metres.

The record involved almost eight laps of the 360° tarmac circle which forms part of the circuit and was set using a C-Class 63 AMG saloon in standard road form.  Calo is a professional driver whose CV includes working for Mercedes' own Silver Arrows - a display team which thrills crowds with daring manoeuvers in a fleet of Mercedes cars.

The continuous drift - driving the car sideways on opposite steering lock - beat the previously held unofficial record set in Las Vegas in 2008.
