Chevron restructure continues

Chevron's downstream global restructuring continues, with further job losses announced at the company's headquarters.

chevron-logoNearly 1500 Chevron employees  in the US will be laid off at part of the restructuring process - 620 at their headquarters in San Ramon, California; 305 in their Californian Concord site and a further 570 in Houston.

Chevron stated its intention to shed 5,700 jobs from its downstream operations over a three year period, with 1,900 jobs being lost in 2009 and a further 3,800 to go next year.  The job losses are at all levels of the organisation, according to Chevron, who are providing severance packages and assistance with job hunting.

Chevron has also clearly stated that the job losses are a result of economics rather than personal performance, with supply and demand in a volatile economy being to blame.
