ACEA announces REACH AIG V3

The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) has launched its latest guidlines for REACH.

ACEA logoVersion 3 of the Automotive Industry Guideline (AIG) is the latest auto industry update of the chemical supply chain regulations that were first introduced in June 2007.  The latest version, published by ACEA's Automotive Task Force is aimed at offering a more comprehensive reponse to a range of REACH regulations.

Version 3 includes addtional chapters on Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) and also on Waste.  There is also advice on Notification of substances in articles;  Authorisation and Restriction procedures; preparation for REACH EN-FORCE audits and Safety Data Sheets.

The new document also provides a useful series of flowcharts which can assist organsiations with meeting the REACH compliance process.  As well as an English language version, the Version 3 AIG is soon to be translated into Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Korean.
