Total takes advantage of marine sulphur changes

Bookmark and Share

Reduction in sulphur levels for shipping in emission control areas (ECAs) appears to have put Total in the captain's chair for marine lubricants.

Total LogoThe new laws are already showing an increase in demand for low sulphur marine fuels, Total Lubmarine is claiming its Talusia Universal product  will become the low sulphur reference in the marine market.

With ECA sulphur limits being reduced from 1.5% to 1% in certain controlled areas around the world's seas and oceans, there is an increased need for lubricants, as well as fuels, that can meet the low sulphur standards.  Currently, many ships are having to switch fuel and lubricant every time they move in and out of the ECAs.

Total claims that its Talusia Universal product is the only single product on the market that can perform in both low and high sulphur environments, where sulphur content is below 1% or above 4%.

The product is designed for all types of vessels, including cargo and container ships, tankers and ro-ros.
