Abu Dhabi, state-owned Oil Refining Company, is set to complete its Ruwais refinery expansion by the end of 2013.

The company, known as Takreer, stated that the new plant will include 21 major process units including a 127,000 b/d cracker unit used for crude to gasoline conversion.  The new plant is set to double the company's gasoline output by adding 417,000 b/d when fully operational in Q1 2014.

The plant will add to the Ruwais and Abu Dhabi City refinery's already run by Takreer's parent Abu Dhabi National Oil Co and help meet growing domestic lubricants demand.  Takreer will start testing operations later this year at the newly built 'green' low-sulphur diesel facility at the plant which will include gasoil hydrotreater, hydrocracking and vacuum units.

The base oil facility is scheduled to start commercial producton of auto lubes by the end of 2013, producing 500,000 tons of Group III oils annually.
