Lexus gains GF-5 certification

Bookmark and Share

Lexus Lubricating Oil Ltd has gained the latest US specification certification for its high-end products.

The company submitted its high-quality LUX motor oil brand for accreditation under the new American Petroleum Institute (API) SN and ILSAC GF-5 specifications, launched in 2010.  SN replaces the older SM specification, while GF-5 updates the GF-4 spec.

The certification means that Lexus products have successfully been developed to meet the new standards, which also makes them compliant with European VI emission standards.

GF-5 and SN were issued in response to the latest vehicle technology and tighter emissions regulations which demand higher performing lubes.  Combining a hydrogenation process with additive technology, Lexus developed the new products to meet the standard which also requires strong anti-wear, oxidation resistance and dispersion properties.

The latest innovation is in line with Lexus' innovation policy aimed at meeting increased demand for high-perfomance lubes products.
