Blaze destroys oil plant
A fire has totally destroyed the production plant of independent producer TriTech in Australia.
The fire destroyed the premises in Dandenong South in the Australian state of Victoria which the company had moved into in 2009. The incident needed close to 30 fire fighting appliances, including helicopters, to keep it under control and stop the fire spreading to neighbouring industrial units.
With an estimated 700,000 litres of lubricants and other flammable liquid on site, the fire spread quickly with a number of 20m-high drums exploding. While firefighters did their best to contain the blaze, the fire destroyed the factory. The caouse of teh fire has not yet been established.
TriTech provides white label lubricant products to a range of global clients including canola-based bio-lubes, diesel and petrol and a range of gear, transmission, industrial and motorsport oils.
Despite the disaster, TriTech has vowed to re-establish the business, stating on its website: "TriTech Lubricants will rise from the ashes better than before. The process of rebuilding has already begun. We will recommence production as soon as possible with minimal disruption."
