Romanian lubes consumption drops

Bookmark and Share

Romania's annual lubes consumption dropped to 100 million litres in 2009, from 140 million in the previous year.

The Romanian market, worth €100m, is predominantly automotive based, with 70% of lubes sales coming from the 5 million vehicle parc.  Until 2008, industrial and auto lubes were balanced, however the global recession hit the industrial sector in 2009, accounting for much of the 40% drop in annual sales.

Local experts are predicting a stable market in 2010, with the future depending on an improvement in the transport sector.
