Retaining its reputation for luxury, Aston is set to produce the new Cygnet in 2011, with the vehicles being hand finished in the same way as all of the company's iconic sports cars.

The Cygnet will be built at the company's UK plant in Gaydon and will use "an almost unlimited palette of materials, colours and textures" according to Aston's Director of Design, Marek Reichman.

The city car is another departure from Aston's traditional fast DB sports car range and follows the recent launch of the four-door Rapide executive express, but this time looks towards the burgeoning market for small city cars.  The Cygnet will be just three metres long, but will incorporate the very highest luxury interior and design technology.

Full pricing and specification of the new car is not expected until the late this year.
