Chemtura Corporation, headquartered in Philidelphia, expects its new plant to become a regional leader in speciality chemicals used in the refining process.

The state-of-the-art production facility, situated 80 miles northwest of Shanghai, will contain three production units that wil support its Industrial Performance Products segment, including petroleum additive and urethane products.

Chemtura hopes the new plant will allow for shorter response time to customer demands, as well as reducing logistics costs.

Alongside its additives products, the chemicals giant will also produce synthetic finished fluids, such as refrigeration lubricants, air compressor lubricants, gear oils, and calcium sulfonate complex grease.

Construction of the Nantong facility began in 2012 and is Chemtura's largest single investment outside of the US to date.
