Chevron Oronite launches new additive

Chevron's additives division, Oronite, has launched a new product for the heavy truck sector and claims it will increase economy and reduce storage.

The new brand, OLOA® 61005, is designed to blend lubricants for the latest low-emission truck engines that meet Euro IV and V standards. The Heavy Duty Additive Package is also backward compatible with the earlier Euro standards and can be used in engines with or without treatment systems.

According to Oronite, the low treat rate - which essentially means lower volumes of the additive need to be used - and ability to formulate for SAE 10W-40 and 10W-30 oil grades, leades to reduced costs of volume storage and increased flexibility for both blenders and fleet workshops. Further savings and flexibility are available to blenders if Chevron Group II base oil is used together with Group III oils.

Providing OLOA 61005 is blended as recommended by Oronite, it meets the ACEA E6-08#2 and E7-09#2 European diesel engine oil sequences, as well as most of the other Heavy Duty OEM claims.
