Destination unknown

A Southwest Airlines flight landed seven miles from its intended destination.

The flight, from Chicago, was due to land at Branson Airport, Missouri but ended up touching down at Taney County Airport with a runway length half the distance of Branson.

Despite the pilot having to brake very hard indeed to ensure the Boeing 737-700 - carrying 124 passengers and five crew members - could make a safe landing, the airline later described the incident as "uneventful".

A rather confused ground crew from Branson airport arrived shortly after the aircraft had taxied to the Taney terminal, tasked with looking after the passengers and their baggage.

This is the second flight in two months to arrive at the wrong airport - in November, a Boeing 747 Dreamlifter cargo aircraft, en route to McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, with a parts delivery, landed nine miles north at Colonel James Jabara Airport.
