RPS Energy questions the true impact of GTLs on the lubricants industry.
In RPS' latest white paper, the focus in on Gas-to-Liquids: the potential 'elephant in the room' of lubricants production. John Unsworth, John Sargeant and Stuart Speding examine this potentially disruptive element which, according to the team, is ultimately beyond the control of the lubricants indsutry itself.
Used as an alternative to crude oil in the production of high quality Group III+ base oils, the success of GTLs is dependent on a number of factors - the most significant being natural gas prices. However, according to EPS, the impact of GTLs within the lubes industry is less about production assets and size, and more about the quality of sales and marketing.
