The technology licencing agreement, between Honeywell UOP, ExxonMobil and Hainan Handi Sunshine Petrochemicals, is the first of its kind in in China between the two tech providers and forms a joint marketing alliance for both premium fuels and lubricants.

An integrated platform, combining the latest hydro processing and de-waxing processes, will allow Hainan Handi to meet the increasing demand from high-performance, cleaner products created from its Group II and III base oils.

The new technology will be installed at the company's plant in the Yangpu Economic and Development Zone in Hainan Province, where the business was first established in 2006.  Over a 10 year period, it has grown to produce oils, fuels and lubricants for the transport, industrial, food and cosmetic sectors.

According to ExxonMobil's global VP of Catalysts and Licensing, Dave Andrews: "The rapid growth of new automobiles in China is driving growth in demand for premium lube oil, which underscores the importance of this technology.”
