Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

New York City has finally witnessed 'real' superheroes flying across the skyline.

The stunt was set up to market 20th Century Fox's latest release, Chronicle, which involves three high school students who make a discovery that leads to them developing super-powers.

Although flying around a city, Superman style, is almost taken for granted by any self-respecting superhero, it was more of a surprise for mere mortals of New York to see the 'people'  - created by viral marketing company Thinkmondo - swooping around some of New York's famous landmarks including the Statue of Liberty.

As well as plenty of local media coverage, a film of the superhero flights was posted on social media site YouTube, clocking up more than seven million views of the flying 'people' and incredulous passers by.
