A lubricant a day keeps the doctor away

A heady mixture of car engine oil and additives is apparently a receipe for health - and not just for your car.

Saudi Arabian car mechanic, Muhammad Omar, is a strong believer in a healthy diet.  That's why, for the past 28 years, he has been drinking a cocktail of engine oils, apparently without any ill effects.

In fact, Muhammad not only believes his diet lubricates the parts other drinks cannot reach, he now states" I need to drink these oils to sustain myself."  He was so convinced, he even found a job in a car maintenance centre in his home town, Mecca, in order to feed his addiction to engine oil.

Muhammad's strange drinking habits were revealed by the Al Arabiya TV News channel with the tyre fitter clearly seen drinking a range of branded lubricants and additives, including a 'cocktail' in a tea glass.

The quantities are far from small.  His regular intake is two or three litres a day, not including additives for extra flavour.  A regional medical specialist believes this is not uncommon behaviour and is simply another type of unusual diet similar to some individuals who eat insects or other strange foods to 'sustain themselves'.
