New Mobil products are good for food and viscosity


ExxonMobil has announced two new products that will help the food industry and improve visocity.

The two, very different, products are Mobil SHC Cibus and a 65 cSt mPAO base stock additive.  The first is designed specifically for the food industry; branded Mobil SHC Cibus Series and registered as NSF H1 lubricants.  The new range is made specifically for lubricating food manufacturing machinery, but is designed to be nut, wheat and gluten free as well as being Kosher and Halal.

The synthetic gear oil has already demonstrated significant energy and maintenance savings, according to Mobil, in trials across the US, Europe and Asia.  Because of its specification and testing, the Cibus range will carry the ExxonMobil "Energy Efficiency" logo on all packaging.

Meanwhile ExxonMobil Chemical is set to release, what it claims to be, an additive industry first with the an additional formulator to its SpectraSyn Elite™ portfolio.  The metallocene polyalphaolefin (mPAO) is a 65 centiStoke (cSt) grade additive and is the second grade in the SpectraSyn range.

Given its low viscosity, the additive allows lubes producers greater flexibility in developing low-temperature oil specificiations than can be achieved with conventional mid-range PAOs, according to ExxonMobil.  It can be blended with conventional PAOs or mineral base stocks to deliver improved energy efficiency.
