Property magnate returns home...with houses and roads.

A poor son returns to his hometown with a present of new houses and roads.

Real estate mogul, Tang Guo, came from a humble background and left his hometown of Huaying in 1993 with just 2 yuan in his pocket. 20 years later he returned to Huaying with a company worth 2bn yuan ($328m which employs over 2,000 people across multiple provinces.

After seeing the poor living conditions in his hometown, the multi millionaire mogul decided to build 69 luxury villas for his friends and family. While the 'pop-up mansions' could be seen as stylistically incongruous with the surrounding paddy fields and shacks, locals are nonetheless impressed with Tang's filial piety.

The new homes will be ready to move into before the Chinese Lunar New Year Festival in January 2014.

The philanthropist, who also donated 300,000 yuan ($50,000) to a local highway construction project, has won the adoration of netizens across China's social networking sites and state media.
