Shell Virtual Assistant

Shell has launched an industry-first artificial intelligence driven service.

Available in the UK and US, the online service is known as Shell Virtual Assistant.  It allows customers and distributors to ask questions such as where to buy lubricants, what pack sizes are available and offers information about product technical properties.

Claimed as an industry first, Virtual Assistant will use avatars Emma and Ethan to answer questions within seconds, thanks to technology known as Natural Language Interaction.

The service can also respond to requests for brochures, Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Shell Virtual Assistant will also link customers to Shell LubeMatch, a free online service where customers can find the right lubricants for their vehicles and equipment.

More complex technical questions which Virtual Assistant cannot answer will be directed to Shell LubeAdvisor which will provide data to help customers optimise machinery lubricants.
