Tenneco Inc. has opened its new, wholly-owend Clean Air research, development and manufacturing facility in Kunshan, a city on the outskirts of Shanghai.

The site will design, develop and eventually manufacture new emission control products for use in China’s booming truck market.

It’s strategic location will also allow it to serve its off-highway equipment business throughout the Asia Pacific region, as well as service its other core applications, such as marine, locomotive and stationary.

The 10,200M2 facility boasts advanced mechatronics and systems integration laboratories with CFD simulation, engine application and hardware testing capabilities.

Tenneco’s XNOx Selective Catalytic Reduction technology, which is used in commercial vehicles across China and AsiaPac, will also be manufactured at the Kunshan plant. The SCR is compliant with Euro V and China National V regulations and is well placed to cater for the nation’s increasingly restrictive emissions standards.

Headquarted in Lake Forest, Illinois, Tenneco employs approximately 26,000 people and generated $8bn in revenue last year.
