An independent Chinese lubes producer will cater to higher spec transmission needs

ZF's 8-speed automatic gearbox Image: Auto gearboxes are becoming ever-more complex. More gears require faster and smoother shifting between them, so an eight-speed automatic gearbox needs a higher quality transmission fluid.
Previously, cars fitted with eight-speed gearboxes have had to rely on costly ZF OEM fluid from Germany, but now a local Chinese independent is manufacturing products to comply with the demanding requirements.
Yihon Lubricants Co has developed and launched China’s first eight-speed automatic gearbox fluid for use in the popular VW Tiguan SUV. While the product has been developed in conjunction with a local manufacturer, it can also be used in other high-end models such the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and Land Rover SUVs.
The local producer also claims the product will meet requirements set by GM, Hyundai, Honda and other mid range autos, for six and seven-speed manual transmissions.
